My Hatha yoga classes aim to bring you accessible postures , breathing practices , meditation and relaxation techniques to help you build your knowledge and gain insight into the transformational experience of yoga.
‘ Yoga is a way of moving into stillness in order to experience the truth of who you are’ - Erich Schiffmann.
Within a restorative yoga class I like to guide you through a journey of moving inward towards stillness so that your nervous system sends and receives fewer messages to the brain and you are able to move into the parasympathetic nervous system allowing the body to take deep rest whilst supported with props. The practice always includes the use of Bolsters, blankets, blocks and belts to completely relieve the muscles of their role of support and action and from personal experience enable healing on many levels, physically, mentally and emotionally.
I offer private one to one lessons tailored to suit your needs, whether you have never practised yoga before and would like to learn the basic postures to give you more confidence before attending a general class or whether you have years of experience and would like to explore different aspects of yoga in more depth to understand your own body’s needs , particularly beneficial if recovering from injury or living with an illness.
I have taught children’s yoga for many years throughout many different settings, within primary schools , after school clubs , one to one home classes, pre-schools and dancing schools. From ages 2 1/2 through to 18 year olds. There is such joy in sharing yoga practices with children of all ages as they are often willing and open to challenging themselves creatively and mentally as yoga has a magical way of allowing that process to occur with ease. A safe supportive environment to be themselves completely and enjoy and appreciate their bodies building great self esteem and self worth.
I practiced yoga throughout my two pregnancies and in 2013 trained to teach Pre & Postnatal yoga with the wonderful Katy Appleton. I have found teaching women at these exciting but sometimes challenging periods of their lives , helps them to reconnect with their ever changing bodies , physically and of course emotionally , but mostly my classes enable them to feel that their yoga practice is a space to feel supported and nurtured on all levels. Also I aim to empower & navigate women through this natural process and most precious time of life.
Please note: Yoga is not recommended during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy.
